چکیده

The next generation of X-ray diffraction optics will benefit from crystal surfaces with very high quality (extremely flat and strain-free), but knowledge on how to achieve such surfaces, and how surface imperfections affect the diffraction properties, is sparse in the literature. As a first step toward initializing a systematic study on this topic, we evaluate in this paper the surface quality of two Si (111) wafers cut by a diamond-wire saw and a rotating-blade saw, respectively. We concentrate on revealing lattice strains induced by the two cutting methods and on strain evolution during three rounds of chemical etching (without polishing). The measurements may provide basic guidelines for fabrication of high-quality monochromators, and they reveal some important clues as to how surface roughness affects rocking curve widths and other diffraction properties.

Investigating the Relationship between Various Brittleness Indexes with Specific Ampere Draw in Rock Sawing Process

This study aimed to develop new statistical models for evaluating the specific ampere draw (SI) based on rock brittleness index in rock sawing process. A variety of rocks, including carbonate and granite, were cut by a fully instrumented laboratory-sawing rig with two different types of circular diamond saws. Laboratory tests were performed at different depths of cut and feed rates. Multiple cu...

Surface characteristics and damage distributions of diamond wire sawn wafers for silicon solar cells

This paper describes surface characteristics, in terms of its morphology, roughness and near-surface damage of Si wafers cut by diamond wire sawing (DWS) of Si ingots under different cutting conditions. Diamond wire sawn Si wafers exhibit nearly-periodic surface features of different spatial wavelengths, which correspond to kinematics of various movements during wafering, such as ingot feed, wi...

A Modified Schimazek’s F-abrasiveness Factor for Evaluating Abrasiveness of Andesite Rocks in Rock Sawing Process

One of the most crucial factors involved in the optimum design and cost estimation of rock sawing process is the rock abrasivity that could result in a significant cost increase. Various methods including direct and indirect tests have been introduced in order to measure rock abrasivity. The Schimazek’s F-abrasiveness factor ( ) is one of the most common indices to assess rock abrasivity.  is t...

بررسی تابش کانالی از ‌بلور‌های الماس به منظور تهیه پرتو X تک انرژی درشتاب دهنده خطی الکترون ELBE

The measurements of electron Channeling Radiation (CR) have been performed at ELBE linear electron accelerator of the Forschungszentrum Dresden-Rossendorf. The aim of performing these experiments was to optimize radiation yield and spectral line width of CR in order to apply channeling radiation for preparing a monochromatic X-ray source. Diamond crystals can be used in relatively high electron...
